Concept inspired by ---- EDIT:
Wow guys, thanks for a second DD this year! I'm very humbled! Just a couple head's up: I recently started up a tumblr portfolio which you can find here: [link] and a personal tumblr blog which you can find... here: [link]
If you wanna check those out that could be fun! I post inspirations, new photos, old photos I've never posted, et cetera.
And also, you probably already have been to her page, but don't forget to check out 's work!
This is my first critique, and I hope you like it! (tend to chatter, so I hope I don't bore you!)
Vision: 4 1/2 stars. This is simply because this could be interpreted several different ways. The photo would have the same impact I believe, but it doesn't completely say what the title says. I still love it though, and the vision/idea was a great one.
Originality: A 5 stars!!! I've seen hospital photos before, but does this even count as one? It is so different. I LOVE how the headphones cord is red, like blood. Music and blood, I like this combo. The blood of the soul being music, I'll assume that's what you meant right? If it is truly what you were seeing I understood it, and I hope others do to. It's fantastic.
Technique: 4 1/2 stars again. (I hate giving out less the 5 star ratings, I really do!): This is because, while he's perfectly in focus, and all that is fine, the shadows from the cords are a little...distracting (no, I don't mean THAT), I mean, because of the way you're set up your lighting, they cast more than one shadow on his face/body. I don't know how much this was possible to avoid, but it can become a little confusing to the eye, taking away from the otherwise simple (perfect) shot. The three tubes didn't really confuse be, because this isn't suppose to be a medical explanation, it's stylistic in the VERY BEST sense of the word.
Impact: 5 stars again! (how could it get anything but?) Is that pain, or peace written on his face? (I haven't decided yet). The music, is it coming from, or going to his heart from his head. The impact is amazing, it really is. The photo is almost creepy, but beautiful all the same, I like that.
Ok, that was probably long enough (100 word min...I stopped at 350 hmm... Anyway, I hope this was helpful. Work on your light/shadow thing, otherwise perfection.
Coming from a musician who feels like this photo a lot...music in the soul!
I love this, and how it is all put together. Him being shirtless makes it all even better too. But just the way everything is in this just makes it simple, straight forward and amazing. With the little pack of blood in the background and all focus on the man. The headphones with the strings (wires...i don't exactly know what to call them.) coming out of them make it all just the better because low and behold there hooked up to the pack of blood in the back. (right?) Then with another tube (thats what its called right?) going to his heart. What is a bit confusing to me though (as you can see) Is where the heck are all those tubes going? There's three on him and one in the back...where did the other two come from? I know where they go but where do they connect and come from? I know but other people probably don't pay attention to those things but its something to think about next time. -Peyton (Hope this was helpful...i kind of got confused with all the tubes so really wasn't doing my best job writing this out.)
